After much consideration, we have decided to make the application free because we believe this tool can be of great service to everyone.

Hosted Notes is out of beta!

First of all, we’d like to thank all of you who have subscribed and have been using the application over the past year. We are excited to announce that all of the “bugs” have been worked out, the security has been upgraded and we are officially out of BETA! To celebrate this occasion, we have also decided to make Hosted Notes 100% free. This is our way of just saying thanks to all our current users.

Why is it free all of the sudden?

After much consideration, we have decided to make the application free because we believe this tool can be of great service to everyone. In order to offset our costs we changed our hosting around a little bit as well as made some other changes to the way the application is managed. As of this point we do not have an active team working to improve, but we will address any bugs/issues that arise.

What if I am currently subscribed?

We have already taken the necessary steps to remove the payment protocol from the application as well as canceling the subscription inside of PayPal. We believe there is no action needed on your end, but we suggest you log into PayPal and make sure as to avoid any further charges.

If you have any further questions or comments, please contact us.

All in all this is just a simple post reminding the aspiring WordPress developers out there to make sure they either start with a fresh theme or make a copy and name it something else.

Ever since Wordpress added support for Post Thumbnails, it has become one of the most widely used features in newer themes. One thing that many people may or may not know is that you can define multiple sizes to use the images in different places.

Ok, so we’ve been a little MIA this summer as some large projects have taken our attention… not to mention we’ve taken a few small vacations in between projects. It’s time to bring Code Post Friday’s back though… here goes…

Ever since WordPress added support for Post Thumbnails, it has become one of the most widely used features in newer themes. One thing that many people may or may not know is that you can define multiple sizes to use the images in different places.

add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array( 'post', 'page' ) );
set_post_thumbnail_size( 220, 184, true );
add_image_size( 'blogroll', 475, 315, true );
add_image_size( 'projectThumb', 116, 116, true );
add_image_size( 'projectMain', 460, 635, true );

This has come in handy more often than not. By defining this WordPress will actually generate the correct size so you can call the same image in multiple locations at a different size. This works great for a portfolio or photo website.

Here is how you call it. Notice we are placing the name defined above in single quotes and it goes where you would normally call a specified $size.

the_post_thumbnail('projectMain');

In the code above (which we added to our functions.php file) we are pulling the image from our images directory in our WordPress theme, but you could easily put this inside of any other folder and of course call it whatever you like.
